The lightest marathon ever

Several months of preparation, and your life is turned upside down. The build-up to a marathon is often as challenging as the race itself. GORE RUNNING WEAR™ cannot do anything about the number of training hours required, but it does significantly lighten your load in the marathon. The new MAGNITUDE series for performance runners weighs just 280* grams, or just 30 grams more than a block of butter.

At 130* grams, the MAGNITUDE WINDSTOPPER® vest is a real lightweight, and it looks good even when worn directly against the skin as a singlet. A soft flowing material has been used for the front of the vest to prevent skin irritation, in particular in the nipple area. 3D mesh provides maximum breathability in the other parts of the vest. Different layers of thicknesses ensure that the 3D material never actually lies against the skin, and moisture from the body can be removed rapidly. WINDSTOPPER® Active Shell was used to protect the more sensitive areas of the body – at the front, in the kidney area and over all of the shoulder area and on the collar. The vest is windproof yet breathable, and this keeps the runner’s body temperature more or less constant even on a cool spring morning or in high temperatures under the midday sun, improving performance.
A special manufacturing procedure meant that it was possible to avoid having seams in direct contact with the skin. While looking for a clever method of attaching start numbers, additional features were developed: visibility was improved thanks to two reflective strips which run across the upper body. Four small pockets at the level of the lower reflective strip provide space for energy gels. In hot weather, the vest can be stored away in the small internal pocket. You can also increase ventilation while running, by unzipping the two-way zip from the bottom up. The body-hugging design increases wearing comfort whether the vest is worn directly against the skin as a singlet, or over a singlet as a vest/gilet. The design speaks for itself – the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres appears on every garment in the series in reflective lettering.

Extremely soft flowing material and a weight of just 70* grams make this singlet the lightest that GORE RUNNING WEAR™ has ever developed. Mesh is used in the sides and in the back, and this allows maximum ventilation, as do the large armholes and low neckline. The entire garment is glued together, and is thus completely seamless. Friction is reduced to a minimum, and the singlet can barely be felt against the skin. The reflective detail on the side as well as the logo and the marathon distance increase visibility, while the overprints on the side and at the spine make an impressive statement – a high-performance shirt for extreme runners.

Top performance at 80* grams – the MAGNITUDE SPLIT shorts
The outer pants of the MAGNITUDE SPLIT shorts are so light and thin that they can be viewed simply as a modesty layer. With extremely light and webbed material in the front, they offer maximum ventilation whilst still protecting decency, thanks to the soft flowing material of the rear section.
Various features enhance the wearing comfort of the split shorts: glued seams minimise friction, while the overlap of the front and rear parts of the pants makes movement easier and allows maximum ventilation. A push-pull material is used in the waistband to rapidly wick away sweat.
The flexible material of the inner pants allows rapid removal of moisture, preventing the material from sticking to the skin. In addition, the seams face outwards so that there is no rubbing against bare skin while running. There is room for your keys or an MP3 player in the small internal pocket at the back right.
